Why Handmade Soap Is Better Than Commerically Made Soap

Why Handmade Soap is Better Than Commercially Made Soap

Why is handmade soap better than the supermarket stuff?

It’s because of what isn’t in it! Natural soap contains no preservatives, harsh chemicals or detergents. The soap we make for our Chai Lover's Giftbox, like all of our products, is made with naturals ingredients and is 100% palm-oil free. We use Australian olive oil for its deep moisturising and nourishing properties, our raw honey for its healing powers, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, and pure beeswax to add hardness so the soap lasts longer. The finely ground chai spices act as a gentle exfoliator, perfect for smoothing dry, winter skin.

I've been playing with new soap designs and I think I've found my new favourite! The sprinkling of cinnamon over the top not only looks pretty but adds to the lovely scent.

Our soap recipe is olive oil-based and is palm oil-free.

USING RAW HONEY IN HANDMADE SOAPS

We use our raw honey in our soaps because of its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, and I've also read that raw honey helps kill bacteria that may cause acne and can help skin heal faster, another bonus!

WHY GOATS MILK SOAP IS SO GOOD

Goats milk is both moisturising and nourishing to the skin. The protein strands of goat milk are shorter than other types of milk and are more readily absorbed by the skin. It has naturally occurring lactic acid that helps to keep your skin smooth by encouraging old skin removal (it acts similar to a gentle peel). It also contains many vitamins, specifically A, D and B6, as well as the anti-oxidant Selenium.  Perfect for using in soap!

We used to use Heidi's milk in our soaps but alas her breeding days are now well and truly over.  We now source goats milk locally when we can, buying it in bulk and storing it in the freezer for soap making.
